Back in the early 1980s, whilst working as an Approver for a large local Plumbing and Heating company, I decided to send myself to evening classes because I wanted to learn for myself the theories and technologies that surround the craft of Plumbing, so that I could one day master my trade of Plumbing, and be the best Plumber that I could possibly be. I attended these classes three times per week, for five years; in which I achieved an Advanced City and Guilds qualification with distinctions. With these qualifications, I began to manage and administer the running of numerous sites and jobs; and I took on more responsibility for my employer, in terms cultivating team-building and improving those around me; this was in order to complete these projects effectively within a tight timeframe. With this experience of organisation and administration on sites, I felt that it was finally time to work on my ultimate goal of starting up my very own Plumbing firm. The government’s Enterprise Allowance scheme of the late 1980s provided the perfect environment for me to grab this chance with both hands, to give everything so that Bazbourne Plumbing and Heating could become a successful and positive firm; and since then it has continued to grow from strength to strength, and I have never looked back! Therefore, I subsequently began to work day and night on the Bazbourne vision, taking on staff, upskilling employees, and mentoring them to realise their potential to their maximum; Bazbourne grew year-by-year to eventually develop into the bespoke Plumbing and Heating company that we are today.
